Children's book
Author Options, a former client of mine, which provided editing services for authors who want to self-publish, approached me with a project for Jay Schween, who wanted an illustrated book to give to his daughter. I was happy to take on the project. But, as this was my first children's book, I cut a lot of teeth on it. The project took forever (my fault, not the author's), but in the end, it was well worth it. In retrospect, I would've done many things differently, but hey, that's how we grow as creatives.
I split the project into four steps: storyboarding, phase 1–full-scale drawings to flesh out characters and scenes, phase 2–inked drawings with manuscript content added, and phase 3–color (added digitally), and final tweaks.
